Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is 16 kilometers away from the down town area. This airport has plenty of lines that connect Chengdu with other 60 cities in China as well as some foreign cities like Bangkok. Chengdu has easy access to Tibet Autonomous Region both by air and land. There are more than 10 flights from Chengdu to Lhasa every day from morning to evening. You may also choose to go to Lhasa from Chengdu as the Chengdu Tibet highway is one of the most important highways linking China with Tibet Autonomous Region. As to the land transportation, Chengdu is the biggest transport hub in Southwest China. Bao-Cheng Railway, Cheng-Yu Railway, Cheng-Kun Railway and Da-Cheng Railway meet in this Chengdu. Besides, there are six national highways crossing this city. The complex transport network connects Chengdu with almost every city in China.

Getting to Chengdu by Air

Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is seated in the central section of Chuanxi Plain and is 16km southwest to the center of Chengdu City. Located at 30°34’47” N and 103°57’02’’E, it is an important aviation hinge and distribution center of passengers and cargo in the southwestern region.

Getting to Chengdu by Train

Chengdu Railway Station is the largest passenger station in Southwest China. It is an important hinge linking Bao-Cheng, Cheng-Yu, Cheng-Kun and Da-Cheng railways. The station links Chengdu with Beijing, Shanghai, Hefei, Lanzhou, Xian Kunming, Guiyang, Chongqing and Guangzhou etc.

Getting to Chengdu by Long Distance Bus

There are six national highways running through Chengdu City, including 108, 213, 317, 318, 319 and 320 National Highways. It is convenient to travel to Chengdu by the public road system. The passenger stations here have regular buses to nearby counties or towns as well as some famous tourist destinations.

Getting around Chengdu by City Bus

The pubic transport network in Chengdu is well developed. Visitors can go to every famous sightseeing place in or around Chengdu by bus. Chengdu buses have two types: the ordinary bus and the air-conditioned bus. The ticket fare is 1 yuan for the former type and 2 yuan for the latter type.

Getting around Chengdu by Taxi

The starting fare of Chengdu taxis is 5 yuan. After 1 kilometer, the price will be 1.4 yuan per kilometer. From 22:00 to 06:00, the starting fare is 6 yuan for one kilometer and then 1.7 yuan/km. If the distance exceeds 7 kilometers, you will be charged for another 0.7 yuan/km. As to the waiting fare, it is 1.4 yuan or 1.7 yuan
