Explore Beijing from Tiananmen Square in the morning. Located in the center of Beijing, Tiananmen Square is the largest city square in the world and it has great cultural significance as it was the site of many important events in Chinese history such as Chairman Mao's declaration of the establishment of the People's Republic of China on Oct, 01, 1949. Next walk to the Forbidden City. As the royal residences of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties from the 15th to 20th century, the Forbidden City was the centre of state power in late feudal China and witnessed the enthronement of 14 Ming and 10 Qing emperors over 505 years. Visit fresh water pearl shop and the Temple of Heaven after lunch at a local Halal restaurant and Salat at the 900 year old Niujie Mosque. The Temple of Heaven, built between 1406 and 1420 by the same emperor who was responsible for building the Forbidden City, is where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties would worship the god of heaven and pray for good harvest.

Vsit the Great Wall of China and jade carving factory in the morning. The Great Wall was continuously built from the 3rd century BC to the 17th century AD on the northern border of China as the great military defense project of successive Chinese Empires. Today, the wall is still impressive at 3,750 miles in length, stretching from the Bohai Sea to the Gobi Desert. The Great Wall embodies unparalleled significance as the national symbol for safeguarding the security of the country and Chinese people. Visit the Sacred Way of the Ming Tomb after lunch and Salat at a local Halal restaurant. The Sacred Way is a stone paved path which stretches as long as one kilometer to the north of the main gate of the Ming Tombs. Next, make a photo stop at the 2008 Olympic Venues of Bird Nest (National Stadium) and Water Cube (National Aquatics Center).

Day 4 Beijing, Summer Palace, High Speed Train to Xian (about 5 hours)

Morning visit to the largest and best-preserved royal garden in China, the Summer Palace. Using Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill as the basic framework, the Summer Palace combined political and administrative, residential, spiritual, and recreational functions within a landscape of lakes and mountains, in accordance with the Chinese philosophy of balancing the works of man with nature. The natural landscape of hills and open water is combined with artificial features such as pavilions, halls, palaces, temples and bridges to form a harmonious ensemble of outstanding aesthetic value. Board second class high speed train to Xian in the afternoon. Xian is the ancient capital city of China and the starting point of Silk Road.

Day 5 Xian, Terracotta Warriors & Reproduction Factory, Great Mosque, Bell & Drum Tower Square, Muslim Quarter

Morning visit to the Terracotta Warriors and Horses and its reproduction factory. Considered one of the foremost archaeological discoveries of the 20th century, the 2,000-year-old Terracotta Army was discovered by accident in 1974 by local farmers digging a well. The 8,000-plus life-sized figures are arranged in vaults to guard the tomb of Qin Shihuang, the first emperor of China, a major architect of the Great Wall and unifier of China. Visit the Bell & Drum Tower Square and Xian Muslim Quarter after lunch and Salat at Xian Great Mosque. The area north of the Drum Tower is the Muslim Quarter of Xian which covers several blocks with an estimated 60,000 Muslims in the region. There are about seven ancient mosques in the area, among which the Great Mosque built in 742 is most famous and popular among all. Experience a seemingly endless labyrinth of street food, restaurants and bustling local life at Xian's Muslim Quarter.

Day 6 Xian, Little Wild Goose Pagoda, Xian Museum, City Wall, High Speed Train to Chengdu

Visit Small Wild Goose Pagoda and Xian Museum in the morning. With a history of more than 1,300 years, Small Wild Goose Pagoda was built to store the Buddhist scriptures delivered from ancient India. It is a perfect example of the multi-eaved square brick pagodas built in ancient China. Currently there are 13 storeys left as the top two storeys were destroyed in earthquakes. Continue to visit Xian Museum. Xian Museum boasts nearly 130,000 relics that all relate to the history of Ancient China and Xian specifically. Afterwards visit Xian City Wall. The City Wall of Xian is one of the oldest and best-preserved city walls in the world. Walking atop the Wall you can get the panorama of Xian skyline. Take high speed train to Chengdu (about 3 hours) in the afernoon.

Visit the Chengdu Panda Base (Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding) in the morning. The panda base imitates pandas' natural habitat so that pandas can have the best possible environment for rearing and breeding. You may also find other endangered wild animals, such as lesser pandas, black-necked cranes, white storks as well as over 20 species of rare animals. Visit the Wide & Narrow Alley after lunch & Salat at Huangcheng Mosque. The wide and narrow alleys are two ancient streets being restored to the original Ming & Qing architectural styles where you will experience the leisurely and comfortable life in Chengdu with boutique hotels, characteristic local snacks, traditional teahouse, distinctive inns and relaxing spas. Fly to Kunming late in the afternoon or at night. Kunming is named the Spring City in China.

Day 8 Kunming, Stone Forest, Shunchengxiang Mosque

Drive out of Kunming to the Stone Forest (2 hours). The Stone Forest is a region of typical karst formation covering an area of more than three hundred square kilometers. Geological research has shown that what is now the Stone Forest was some 270 million years a shallow sea. Extensive deposits of sandstone overlain by limestone accumulated in this basin during the Permian period of geologic time. Uplift of this region occurred subsequent to deposition and exposure to wind and running water shaped these limestone ridges. These formations extend as far as the eye can see, looking like a vast forest of stone, hence the name "the Stone Forest". The Forest contains peaks, pillars, stalagmites, depressions, underground rivers and caves. The Stone Forest is considered superlative natural phenomena and a world reference and listed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007.

Day 9 Kunming, Western Hill, Dragon Gate, Fly to Guilin

Visit Western Hills & Dianchi Lake in the afternoon. Located west of the Dianchi Lake, Western Hills extend for more than 40 kilometers at an altitude of 2,500 meters above sea level. The top of Western Hills is the Dragon Gate which is a group of grottoes, sculptures, corridors and pavilions that were hacked from the cliff between 1781 and 1835 by a Taoist monk. Take a 20 minute cable car up to the Dragon Gate, then hike for 20 minutes to Kuixing Pavilion which is the highest point of Western Hills. Dragon Gate offers an amazing bird's eye view of Dianchi Lake and Kunming City. Fly to Guilin late in the afternoon or at night. Guilin is world famous for its serene landscapes and mysterious limestone formations which make Guilin one of the most photographed city in China.

Day 10 Guilin, Li River Cruise, Yangshuo West Street, Chongshan Mosque, Two Rivers & Four Lakes

Cruise the Li River in the morning. The 83-kilometer-long waterway from Guilin to Yangshuo is like an artist's masterpiece, cruising is like traveling along a traditional Chinese landscape painting. The landscape is decorated with startling hills, steep cliffs, fantastic caves and farming villages, and is lined with bamboo. In a Chinese poem it is written: "The river is a green silk ribbon, and the hills are jade hairpins". Cruising on the Li River is enjoyable no matter what the weather is like. During sunny days, you can see the inverted reflection of the hills on both sides clearly in the water. During cloudy days, the hills are surrounded by mist and you may feel that we are cruising in a mystical paradise. And when the rain comes, drizzle is like a vale, which covers the hills and river, and you may feel the poetic connotations of this too. Stroll along the famous West Street upon arrival at Yangshuo. Back to Guilin perform Salat at Chongshan mosque. Afterwards, visit the Two Rivers & Four Lakes Scenic Area. These lakes and rivers are linked up and formed Guilin's central round-the-city water system, making Guilin just like a grand beautiful park.

Day 11 Guilin, Yaoshan Mountain, Tea Plantation, Reed Flute Cave, Bullet Train to Guangzhou

Morning visit to Yaoshan Mountain with round-trip chairlift and Yaoshan Tea Plantation. Yaoshan Mountain is 903.3 meters above sea level and is the highest mountain in Guilin. Enjoy a beautiful view of rocks, flowers and brooks during the chairlift ride. Afterwards, experience tea-leaf picking and tea-making process at Yaoshan Tea Plantation. Continue with a visit to Reed Flute Cave. The Reed Flute Cave got its name from the verdant reeds growing outside it, with which people make flutes. Inside this water-eroded cave is a spectacular world of various stalactites, stone pillars and rock formations formed by carbonate deposition. Illuminated by colored lighting, the fantastic spectacle is found in many variations along this 240-meter-long cave. Take second class bullet train to Guangzhou.

Day 12 Guangzhou, Chen Family Temple, Memorial Hall of Sun Yat-sen, Huaisheng Mosque, Pearl River Cruise

Visit Chen Family Temple in the morning. Also named Guangdong Folk Art Museum, this 100-year-old temple was once the ancestral temple and study of 72 Chen families in Guangdong in the Qing Dynasty. It is now the largest and best preserved and decorated ancient architecture existing in Guangdong Province. Later on, visit the Memorial Hall of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Salat prayer at the Huaisheng Mosque. Known as Guangta Mosque, this is one of the earliest mosques constructed since Islam came into China in the fifth century. Then, cruise on the Pearl River. The Pearl River has a length of more than 2,000 kilometers and is the third longest river in China. This charming one-hour cruise may be a most romantic way to enjoy the appealing city views of Guangzhou. On the water you will get a refreshingly different and open panorama of the city; the picturesque and diversified waterfronts and river views are a feast for the senses during the day, at sunset, or at night.

Day 13: Guangzhou, Yuexiu Park, Five Ram Sculpture, Waqqas Tomb, Fly to Shanghai

Morning visit to the Yuexiu Park and Five Ram Sculpture. Yuexiu Park is the largest park in downtown Guangzhou. This park is made up of three artificial lakes and seven hills of Yuexiu Mountain reputed for its pretty water and hills as well as cultural relics. The Five-Ram Sculpture is the emblem of Guangzhou at the top of Yuexiu Hill inside Yuexiu Park. The legend behind the sculpture is something about five celestial beings riding through the air on rams to bring rice to the first settlers of the area. We will then visit the Muslim Sage’s Tomb which looks like an ancient Chinese temple. History recorded that Nabi Muhammad (s.a..w), at the age 57 sent his uncle Sad ibn Abi-Waqqas to Guangzhou. The Muslim Sage’s Tomb was to commemorate Sad ibn Abi-Waqqas who died in Guangzhou. Fly to Shanghai late in the afternoon or at night.

Day 14 Shanghai, Yuyuan Garden, Chenghuangmiao Market, The Bund & Nanjing Road, People's Square, Shanghai Museum

Morning visit to Yuyuan Garden. This garden is a maze of Ming Dynasty pavilions, elaborate rockeries, arched bridges, and goldfish ponds, all encircled by an undulating dragon wall. Then spend some time shopping at the Chenghuangmiao market located outside the garden. Afterwards, stroll along the Bund and nearby Nanjing Road. The Bund refers to Shanghai's famous waterfront stretching for 1.6km along the west shore of the Huangpu River. Nanjing Road is the main shopping street of Shanghai and one of the busiest shopping streets in the world. Continue with a visit to silk store, the People's Square and Shanghai Museum after lunch and Salat at Xiaotaoyuan Mosque. The People’s Square was once the finest racecourse in Asia before 1949, it is now a large open space in which locals hang out all day, every day, practicing Tai Chi and flying kites. Shanghai Museum is specially celebrated in the world for its rich and high-quality collection of 120,000 precious works of art including ancient Chinese bronze, ceramics, painting and calligraphy.

Salat Prayer at Beijing Niujie Mosque

Beijing Niujie mosque was originally built by Nasruddin in 996. Major renovation projects were carried out during the time of Emperor Kangxi (1662-1722) of the Qing Dynasty. It is the largest and oldest mosque in Beijing. The buildings inside the mosque are symmetrically arranged. The main buildings include a minaret which is in traditional Chinese style, the Prayer Hall, and the Stele Pavilion. Many important cultural relics, such as steles from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and cupreous hollowware from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), are preserved in the mosque. Now Niujie area outside the mosque is the residential place for more than 13,000 Chinese speaking Hui Muslims in Beijing.

Salat Prayer at Beijing Madian Mosque

Beijing Madian Mosque is one of the famous mosques in Beijing with a long history. The area of Madian became a place where Chinese speaking Hui Muslims inhabitated in the Ming Dynasty. It is recorded that the number of Hui Muslims in Madian area was more or less the same like in Niujie area (the place with Niujie Mosque, the largest Hui Muslim commnunity in Beijing). Due to the large Hui Muslim population in Madian area, the mosque was built here during Qing Dynasty Emperor Kangxi's reign (1661-1772). During the Culture Revolution (1966-1976), Madian Mosque was turned into a factory and the prayer room became the workshop. In 1982, the factory was moved away and Madian Mosque was returned to the local Muslim community. However, the prayer room was no longer suitalbe for salat. Local Muslims raised money to rebuid the prayer room and lecture rooms. Covering an area of 3,800 square meters, the newly renovated Madian Mosque is in traditional Chinese courtyard style.

Salat Payer at Xian Great Mosque

Xian Great Mosque was built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and expanded in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The mosque has a rectangular layout which is from east to west. There are five courtyards inside the mosque. The main buildings include the decorated archway, the prayer hall, the minaret (a traditional Chinese Tower), the scripture hall and the stele pavilion. The principal building is the prayer hall, which can accommodate 1,000 prayers at the same time. In the mosque there are many precious cultural relics, such as epigraphs, tablets, couplets, censers, phylacteries, paintings, hanging lamps and so on. A hand-written copy of the Quran by a well-known Moslem noble in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) is preserved in the mosque.

Salat Payer at Xian Daxuexixiang Mosque

Xian Daxuexixiang Mosque was built in 705 AD, during the Tang Dynasty. As one of the most ancient mosques in Xian, From Yuan Dynasty to the end of Ming Dynasty, the mosque was renovated for several times. Buildings inside the Mosque include screen walls, stone memorials, gates, 3-room court, reflection pavilion, south hall, north hall, stele pavilion, water rooms, praying hall and so on. The reflection pavilion was said to be built in Song Dynasty, and was renovated for several times after Zhenghe finished his fourth voyages. The well known Zhenghe Stele, or the Rebuilding of Qingjing Temple Stele, is erected inside the South Stele Pavilion. On top of the door of the prayer hall is an inscribed board “Pai Yian Tian Fang”, written by Empress Cixi of Qing Dynasty. The prayer hall covers an area of about 600 square meters, which can have 500 people to pray at the same time.

Salat Prayer at Chengdu Huangcheng Mosque

Chengdu Huangcheng Mosque is the largest mosque in Sichuan. Huangcheng means Royal City because of the mosque location near to a palace of a dynasty in the local history of Sichuan, thus the mosque was name such. The mosque was originally constructed in the 16th century. It was first rebuilt in 1858. In 1917, it was heavily damaged during a war. Subsequently, the size was reduced from 6,600 square meters to 5,000 square meters due to financial constraint. The prayer hall was recently rebuilt. The mosque houses the headquarters of the Islamic Association of Sichuan Province.

Salat Prayer at Kunming Shunchengxiang Mosque

Kunming Shunchengxiang Mosque was first built in the first year of Hongxi (1425), Ming Dynasty(1368-1644) and was rebuilt and enlarged for many times in Qing Dynasty(1644-1911). The existing masjid covers an area of 10,000 square meters. The Mosque is the headquarter of Islamic Association in Yunnan Province.

Salat Prayer at Guangzhou Huaisheng Mosque

Huaisheng Mosque was built by S’ad Ibn Abi Waqqas, a prominent companion of the Holy Prophet, in the early Tang Dynasty (618-970). Huaisheng in Chinese means in memory of Prophet Muhammad. The existing buildings include the Pagoda of Light, Prayer Hall, Minaret, Stele Pavilion, and reception room, etc. The 35.75 meters high Pagoda of Light is the most prominent building in the mosque. The light on the top of the pagoda acts as a lighthouse for ships navigating at night. The carvings outside the Prayer Hall have local features. Since there is a dragon eye tree and a phoenix eye tree on each side of Prayer Hall, the mosque is also called the Dragon and Phoenix Mosque by locals.

Salat Prayer at Shanghai Xiaotaoyan Mosque

Xiaotaoyan Mosque was established in 1917 and rebuilt in 1925 and features the Islamic architectural style. Inside the gate there is a rectangular courtyard. The 500 square meter big prayer hall can accommodate 200 prayers. Since Xiaotaoyuan Mosque was founded, it has established several schools, including the Islam Normal School, the Primary School for Muslims, Mingcheng Primary School, Chongben Primary School, and Shanghai Islam Orphanage. Currently, organizations such as the Management Committee of Mosques in Shanghai, Shanghai Islamic Association are located in Xiaotaoyuan Mosque.

Get Your Visa before Entering China

Arrival in Beijing

This tour starts in Beijing. Beijing has two international airports, Beijing Capital Airport (PEK) and Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX). Beijing Capital Airport is 29 km (15 miles) to the city center while Beijing Daxing Airport is 46 km (29 miles) to the center of Beijing. Upon your arrival at Beijing airport, ICT tour guide will hold IslamiChina welcome sign with your name and wait at the airport arrival hall.

Departure from Shanghai

This tour ends in Shanghai. There are two international airports in Shanghai, Shanghai Hongqiao (SHA) and Shanghai Pudong (PVG). Pudong mainly serves international flights, while Hongqiao mainly serves domestic and regional flights in East Asia. Hongqiao Airport is closer to the city center (13km / 8 miles) than Pudong (30 km / 19 miles). You will be transferred to your airline terminal building of Shanghai airport on the last day. For your information, Pudong Airport is connected to the magnetic levitation line (Maglev), currently the fastest commercial train in the world. From Longyang Road Metro Station to Pudong airport, the 30-kilometer trip will take only eight minutes. Max speed of Maglev Train can be 430km/h. Full Payment

Full payment should be made 30 days prior to departure. Once full payment has been made, hotels, tour guides, domestic flights/trains and land transportation will be confirmed.

Cancellation

Cancellations made 31 days or more prior to the scheduled departure date, will receive a 100% refund. Cancellations made within 22 - 30 days will incur a 10% fee.
