Turpan is a Tarim oasis town located on the middle part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regions. The old name of this city was Gushi. It was in Ming Dynasty that Turpan, which means fertile land, became the city’s official name. The most attractive sightseeing place in Turpan is the Grape Valley, where visitors can have a taste of the juicy grape while enjoying the beautiful landscapes and visiting local Uygur families. The natural attractions in Turpan are special and amazing. The Flaming Mountains are best known in China because of the story of Monkey King. The Aiding Lake is the lowest point in China with an elevation of minus 155 meters. The ancient city of Gaochang and Jiaohe are ruins of the Silk Road city states of seventh century. Besides, Turpan is a center of Uygur culture and visitors can enjoy traditional Xinjiang Uygur song & dance.
