  • Day 1: Arrival in Beijing

    Our professional Muslim expert tour guide will pick you up at Beijing capital international airport and transfer you to the hotel. Relax during the remainder of the afternoon and evening to recover from the jet lag. 
     
    Day 2: Beijing, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Bamboo Carbon Store, Salat at Niujie Mosque, Temple of Heaven
    Meals Included: Breakfast at hotel, Lunch & Dinner at local Halal restaurants
     
    We will start to explore Beijing from Tiananmen Square in the morning. Located in the center of Beijing, Tiananmen Square is the largest city square in the world and it has great cultural significance as it was the site of many important events in Chinese history such as Chairman Mao's declaration of the establishment of the People's Republic of China on Oct, 01, 1949. Next we will walk to the Forbidden City. As the royal residences of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties from the 15th to 20th century, the Forbidden City was the centre of state power in late feudal China and witnessed the enthronement of 14 Ming and 10 Qing emperors. After Salat at Niujie Mosque we will visit the Temple of Heaven. This temple, built between 1406 and 1420, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site regarded as a masterpiece of architectural and landscape design. 
     
     
    Day 3: Beijing, Great Wall of China, Jade Museum, The Sacred Way of Ming Tombs, Photo Stop at Olympic Venues of Bird Nest & Water Cube

    Morning visit to the Jade Museum and the Great Wall of China. The Great Wall was continuously built from the 3rd century BC to the 17th century AD on the northern border of China as the great military defense project of successive Chinese Empires. Today, the wall is still impressive at 3,750 miles in length, stretching from the Bohai Sea to the Gobi Desert. The Great Wall embodies unparalleled significance as the national symbol for safeguarding the security of the country and Chinese people. After lunch and Salat  we will visit the Sacred Way of the Ming Tombs. The Sacred Way is a stone paved path which stretches as long as one kilometer to the north of the main gate of the Ming Tombs. Next we will make a photo stop at the 2008 Olympic Venues of Bird Nest and Water Cube.
     
     
    Day 4: Beijing, Summer Palace, Fresh Water Pearl, Salat at Madian Mosque, Fly to Xining

    This morning we will visit the the largest and best-preserved royal garden in China, the Summer Palace. Using Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill as the basic framework, the Summer Palace combined political and administrative, residential, spiritual, and recreational functions within a landscape of lakes and mountains, in accordance with the Chinese philosophy of balancing the works of man with nature. The natural landscape of hills and open water is combined with artificial features such as pavilions, halls, palaces, temples and bridges to form a harmonious ensemble of outstanding aesthetic value. After Salat we will fly to Xining.
     
     
    Day 5: Xining, Qinghai Lake, Sun Moon Mountain, Salat at Dongguan Mosque, High Speed Train to Lanzhou
    Meals Included: Breakfast at hotel, lunch & dinner at local Halal restaurant
     
    Morning visit Qinghai Lake. Qinghai Lake is the largest salt water lake in China. Both Tibetans and Mongolians regard this lake a holy lake. Many Tibetan worshippers can be seen praying along the banks. Later, visit the Sun Moon Mountain, a memorial dedicated to the Tang Dynasty Princess Wencheng, who is credited as one of the people who brought Buddhism to Tibet. Upon returning to Xining we will perform Salat at Dongguan Mosque. Afterwards, Board high-speed train to Lanzhou (about 1 hour). 
     
     
    Day 6: Drive to Linxia, Khufiyya Huashi Mosque & Gongbei, Qadiriyya Great Gongbei, Madrasa, Local Bazaar
    Meals Included: Breakfast at hotel, lunch & dinner at local Halal restaurant
     
    Drive to Linxia in the morning. Linxia has been one of the main religious, cultural, and commercial centers of China's Muslim community, earning itself the nickname of "the little Mecca of China". Almost every major Islamic movement in China finds its origin among Muslims who came to Linxia disseminating new doctrines after pilgrimage to Mecca. It remains the main center of China's Qadiriyyah and Khufiyya Sufi orders; it was also the home of Ma Mingxin, the founder of the Jahriyya order. Upon arrival in Linxia we will visit Muslim community, Madrassah, local Bazaar, Khufiyya Huashi Mosque & Gongbei, Qadiriyya Great Gongbei in the Muslim city of Linxia.
     
     
    Day 7: Drive to Lanzhou, Provincial Museum, Water Wheel Park, Salat at Xiguan Mosque, High Speed Train to Xian
    Meals Included: Breakfast at hotel, lunch & dinner at local Halal restaurant.
     
    Drive to Lanzhou in the morning. Upon arrival we will visit the Water Wheel Park and Gansu Provincial Museum. There are more than 140,000 collections in the Provincial Museum including the world-famous bronze Galloping Horse's Hoof Stepped on a Flying Swallow, also named as Galloping Horse. The galloping horse is honored as the mysterious and rare treasure in the history of Chinese ancient sculpture art. After Salat at  Xiguan Mosque which was recently renovated according to traditional Arabic style we will take the second class high speed train to Xian (about 3 hours), the ancient capital city of China and the starting point of Silk Road.
     
     
    Day 8: Xian, Terra Cotta Warriors & Reproduction Factory, Salat at Great Mosque, Bell & Drum Tower Square, Muslim Quarter
    Meals Included: Breakfast at hotel, lunch & dinner at local Halal restaurant
     
    Morning visit to the Terra Cotta Army & reprodution factory. Considered one of the foremost archaeological discoveries of the 20th century, the 2000-year-old Terra Cotta Army was discovered by accident in 1974 by local farmers digging a well. The 8,000-plus life-sized figures are arranged in vaults to guard the tomb of Qin Shihuang, the first emperor of China. After Salat at Xian Great Mosque, we will visit the Bell & Drum Tower Square and Xian Muslim Quarter. The Muslim Quarter of Xian covers several blocks with an estimated 60,000 Muslims in the region. There are about seven ancient mosques in the area, among which the Great Mosque built in 742 is most famous and popular among all. At Xian's Muslim Quarter you will find a seemingly endless labyrinth of street food, restaurants and bustling local life. 
     
     
    Day 9: Xian, City Wall, Shaanxi History Museum, Big Wild Goose Pagoda Square, Salat at Mosque, Fly to Guangzhou

    This morning we will walk on the the oldest, largest and best preserved city walls in China, Xian City Wall which is rectangular in shape and has a total length of 14 kilometers. As one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world, it was constructed with a moat, drawbridges, watch towers, corner towers, parapet walls and gate towers. Next we will visit Shaanxi History Museum. Considered one of China's most exceptional museums, this museum's exhibits range from ancient bronze tools to Ming and Qing dynasty artifacts. Later we will walk along the square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda. As the symbol of Xian, Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a well-preserved ancient building constructed in 652. After lunch & Salat at a mosque we will fly to Guangzhou.
     
     
    Day 10: Guangzhou, Chen Family Temple, Memorial Hall of Sun Yat-sen, Salat at Huaisheng Mosque, Pearl River Cruise

    We will visit Chen Family Temple in the morning. Also named Guangdong Folk Art Museum, this 100-year-old temple was once the ancestral temple and study of 72 Chen families in Guangdong in the Qing Dynasty. It is now the largest and best preserved and decorated ancient architecture existing in Guangdong Province. Later on we will visit the Memorial Hall of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. After lunch we will perfrom salat at the Huaisheng Mosque. Known as Guangta Mosque, this is one of the earliest mosques constructed since Islam came into China in the fifth century. Then we will cruise on the Pearl River. The Pearl River has a length of more than 2,000 kilometers and is the third longest river in China. A charming one-hour cruise may be a most romantic way to enjoy the appealing city views of Guangzhou. On the water we will get a refreshingly different and open panorama of the city; the picturesque and diversified waterfronts and river views are a feast for the senses during the day, at sunset, or at night.
     
     
    Day 11: Guangzhou, Yuexiu Park, Five Ram Sculpture, Muslim Sage Waqqas Tomb, Fly to Shanghai

    In the morning we will visit the Yuexiu Park and the symbol of Five Ram Sculpture. Yuexiu Park is the largest park in downtown Guangzhou. This park is made up of three artificial lakes and seven hills of Yuexiu Mountain reputed for its pretty water and hills as well as cultural relics. The Five-Ram Sculpture is the emblem of Guangzhou at the top of Yuexiu Hill inside Yuexiu Park. The legend behind the sculpture is something about five celestial beings riding through the air on rams to bring rice to the first settlers of the area. We will then visit the Muslim Sage’s Tomb which looks like an ancient Chinese temple, with walls surrounding its four corners. History recorded that Nabi Muhammad (s.a..w), at the age 57 sent his uncle Sad ibn Abi-Waqqas to Guangzhou. The Muslim Sage’s Tomb was to commemorate Sad ibn Abi-Waqqas who died in Guangzhou. We will fly to Shanghai in the afternoon.
     
     
    Day 12: Shanghai, Yuyuan Garden, Chenghuangmiao Market, The Bund & Nanjing Road, Salat at Mosque, People's Square, Shanghai Museum

    Morning visit  to the Yuyuan Garden. This garden is a maze of Ming Dynasty pavilions, elaborate rockeries, arched bridges, and goldfish ponds, all encircled by an undulating dragon wall. Then shopping at the Chenghuangmiao market located outside the garden. After Salat at Mosque we will stroll along the Bund and nearby Nanjing Road. The Bund refers to Shanghai's famous waterfront stretching for 1.6km along the west shore of the Huangpu River. Nanjing Road is the main shopping street of Shanghai and one of the busiest shopping streets in the world. We will then visit the People's Square and Shanghai Museum. The rich and high-quality collection of Shanghai Museum's 120,000 precious works of art including ancient Chinese bronze, ceramics, painting and calligraphy is specially celebrated in the world.

  • Performing Salat at Beijing Niujie Mosque
    Beijing Niujie mosque was originally built by Nasruddin, the son of an Arabic priest who came to China to preach the Islamic faith in 996 (Northern Song Dynasty). Major renovation projects were carried out in 1442, during the time of Emperor Kangxi (1662-1722) of the Qing Dynasty. Niujie Mosque is the largest and oldest mosque in Beijing. The buildings inside the mosque are symmetrically arranged. The main buildings include a Minaret which is in traditional Chinese style, the Prayer Hall, the Stele Pavilion, and so on. Many important cultural relics, such as steles from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and cupreous hollowware from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), are preserved in the mosque. Now Niujie area outside the mosque is the residential place for more than 13,000 Muslims in Beijing.
     
     
    Performing Salat at Beijing Madian Mosque
    Beijing Madian Mosque is one of the famous mosques in Beijing with a long history. The area of Madian became a place where Chinese speaking Hui Muslims inhabitated in the Ming Dynasty. It is recorded that the number of Hui Muslims in Madian area was more or less the same like in Niujie area (the place with Niujie Mosque, the largest Hui Muslim commnunity in Beijing). Due to the large Hui Muslim population in Madian area, the mosque was built here during Qing Dynasty Emperor Kangxi's reign (1661-1772). During the Culture Revolution (1966-1976), Madian Mosque was closed for religious service and it was turned into a factory and the prayer room became the workshop. In 1982, the factory was moved away and Madian Mosque was returned to the local Muslim community. However, the prayer room was no longer suitalbe for salat. Local Muslims raised money to rebuid the prayer room and lecture rooms. Covering an area of 3,800 square meters, the newly renovated Madian Mosque is in traditional Chinese courtyard.
     
     
    Performing Salat at Xining Dongguan Mosque 
    Xining Dongguan Mosque is one of the four great mosques in Northwest China. Dongguan Mosque is located at the Dongguan Street of Xining City. It is said that Xining Dongguan Mosque was established at the beginning of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Xining Dongguan Mosque has undergone several destructions and reconstructions in the history. The existing buildings were rebuilt in 1913, expanded in 1946, and renovated in 1979. The Mosque covers an area of 13,602 square meters now, and floor space is 4,654 square meters. These buildings have a large scale, and combine the traditional Chinese architectural art with the Islamic architectural form. With the name of the mosque written on it, the gate is 10 meters high and 15 meters wide. Inside the gate there are five arches of 10 meters high and 21 meters wide. After passing the arches, you'll see a courtyard with an area of 4,490 square meters. In the middle of the courtyard stands the main prayer hall, which takes up an area of 1,136 square meters and is a brick-and-wood construction. There are the imam's room, students' dormitories and steles in the mosque. The Qinghai Aheng Islam College is located inside Xining Dongguan Mosque.
     
     
    Performing Salat at Lanzhou Xiguan Mosque
    Lanzhou Xiguan Mosque was originally built during the Wanli Emperor of the Ming Dynasty. During the Qing Dynasty, the mosque underwent two big reconstructions. The mosque was rebuilt in 1990 into what it is today with the added dome. The style of the mosque follows the Arabic Islamic style, while the prayer hall combines the Chinese classical and Arabic architectural style. The mosque covers an area of 467 square meters with its prayer hall spans over 141 square meters. The temple has trained a group of Muslim scholars. Every year, the temple will receive hundreds of foreign Muslim visitors to do prayer here.
     
     
    Performing Salat at Xian Great Mosque 
    Xian Great Mosque was built in 742 in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and underwent several reconstructions in the following dynasties. The existing buildings of Xian Great Mosque were mainly built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and expanded in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Xian Great Mosque covers an area of 130,000 square meters, and the construction area is 4,000 square meters. The mosque has a rectangular layout which is from east to west. There are five courtyards inside Xian Great Mosque. The main buildings include the decorated archway, the prayer hall, the minaret (a traditional Chinese Tower), the scripture hall, the imam's dorm, and the stele pavilion, etc. The principal building is the prayer hall, which can accommodate 2,000 prayers at the same time. In the mosque there are many precious cultural relics, such as epigraphs, tablets, couplets, censers, phylacteries, paintings, hanging lamps and so on. A hand-written copy of the Quran by a well-known Moslem noble in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) is preserved in the mosque.
     
     
    Performing Salat at Xian Daxuexixiang Mosque
    Xian Daxuexixiang Mosque was built in 705 AD, during the Tang Dynasty. As one of the most ancient mosques in Xian, From Yuan Dynasty to the end of Ming Dynasty, the mosque was renovated for several times. Buildings inside the Mosque include screen walls, stone memorials, gates, 3-room court, reflection pavilion, south hall, north hall, stele pavilion, water rooms, praying hall and so on. The reflection pavilion was said to be built in Song Dynasty, and was renovated for several times after Zhenghe finished his fourth voyages. The well known Zhenghe Stele, or the Rebuilding of Qingjing Temple Stele, is erected inside the South Stele Pavilion. On top of the door of the prayer hall is an inscribed board “Pai Yian Tian Fang”, written by Empress Cixi of Qing Dynasty. The prayer hall covers an area of about 600 square meters, which can have 500 people to pray at the same time.
     
     
    Performing Salat at Guangzhou Huaisheng Mosque
    The Huaisheng Mosque is one of the four great mosques along the coastal area of Southeast China. The mosque has a long history, and is as famous as the Crane Mosque in Yangzhou City, the Qingjing Mosque in Quanzhou City, and the Phoenix Mosque in Hangzhou City. It is said that the Huaisheng Mosque was built by S’ad Ibn Abi Waqqas, a prominent companion of the Holy Prophet, in the early Tang Dynasty (618-970). The existing buildings include the Pagoda of Light, the Main Hall, the Minaret, the Stele Pavilion, the ambulatory, and the reception room, etc. The Pagoda of Light of 35.75 meters high is located in the right front of the Main Hall, and is the most prominent building in the mosque. The light on the top of the pagoda acts as a lighthouse for ships navigating at night. The Main Hall is located at the rear part of the mosque. The carvings outside the Main Hall have local features. For there is a dragon eye tree and a phoenix eye tree on each side of the Main Hall, the mosque is also called the Dragon and Phoenix Mosque.
     
     
    Performing Salat at Shanghai Xiaotaoyan Mosque
    Located at Xiaotaoyuan Street in southern Shanghai, the Xiaotaoyan Mosque, also called the Xicheng Mosque, is one of the famous mosques in Shanghai. This Mosque was established in 1917 and rebuilt in 1925 and features the Islamic architectural style. Inside the gate there is a rectangular courtyard. On the west side of the hall stands the great prayer hall of 500 square meters, which can hold 200 prayers. The prayer hall has two storeys.  Since Shanghai Xiaotaoyuan Mosque was founded, it has established several schools, including the Islam Normal School, the Primary School for Muslims, Mingcheng Primary School, Chongben Primary School, and Shanghai Islam Orphanage, etc. Currently, organizations such as the Management Committee of Mosques in Shanghai, Shanghai Islam Association and so on are located in Shanghai Xiaotaoyuan Mosque.

    Breakfast will be both Western and Chinese buffet breakfast at hotel. Lunch & dinner will be at local Chinese Halal restaurants near sightseeing places. Please be assured that all lunch and dinner arranged by ICT will be at Halal restaurants. We don't arrange pork free meals. In Beijing you might taste Halal Peking Roast Duck, Halal Mongolian Hop Pot; In Xian, you might try the most famous local Muslim food of Crumbled Flatbread in Mutton Stew (locals call it Yangrou Paomo); In Shanghai, you may try Beef or Lamb Kebab and Lanzho Beef Noodles. If you have special request for Indian, Pakistani, Indonesian, Turkish, Arabian or other cuisines, please advise us in advance and we will arrange accordingly. Please note that Indian, Pakistani, Indonesian, Turkish, Arabian restaurants are always more expensive than Chinese Halal meals. Halal restaurants arranged by ICT must have Halal certificate issued by related government offices.
